Designed in 1984, the R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time, for instance electronically controlled damping (Adaptive Damping System ADS, optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The R107's somewhat dated rear suspension with semi-trailing arms gave way to a modern multi-link axle. The number of standard features was high, with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and hydraulic convertible top.
From 1995 onwards, the R129s featured a minor facelift, which included front fender vents, bumpers were body colour, V8's and V12's upgraded to 5 speed electronic transmission, Xenon HID headlamps were standard on the SL600 and optional on the SL500, and side airbags were now standard.
This 1997 Mercedes Benz SL320 has 131,000km with FSH and books. The car has been serviced regularly and is excellent overall condition. It comes standard with the hard top. It has recently had a major service, new tyres fitted, new soft top fitted and is in excellent overall condition
